Dave Cover: This is Christian Meditation for A Bigger Life. I'm Dave Cover. I want to help you with Christian meditation and experience God's presence through biblically guided imagination, where you can draw near to God and get the stress and anxiety out of your mind, out of your heart and out of your body so you can live a bigger life. If your podcast app is set to skip silent sections, disable that now. To begin, lie flat on your back, or sit comfortably in a chair. Uncross your legs and arms and close your eyes if you can, and take in a deep breath. And as you exhale, quietly say to yourself," Relax, relax." Begin to focus on a rhythm of taking in deep, slow breaths in through your nose and into your belly. And as you exhale, focus on relaxing all the muscles in your entire body, breathing relaxation, unclenching your muscles, softening your muscles all throughout your entire body. Focus your mind on feeling your entire body relax with each exhale. Today, we're going to meditate on Romans 11: 36. The apostle Paul writes for from him and through him and to him are all things. To him, be the glory forever, amen. For from him and through him and for him are all things. We recalibrate our lives and every part of our soul, our body included with reality when we reintegrate how we see ourselves with the reality of this verse, for from him and through him and for him are all things. Use your imagination to feel this truth, this reality of this verse into your entire body, into your entire soul, your mind, body, spirit for from him and through him and for him are all things, all things. Imagine every cell in your body right now, part of the all things being from God and through him and for him. Paul says in Acts 17: 28 in him we live and move and have our being. So begin to focus on this truth, every part of your body, every cell, every organ, every muscle, every bone, every nerve, meditate by focusing your mind on this from him and through him and for him are all things in your body. All things in you, all things about you are from him and through him and for him. In him, you live and move and have your being. So come back to your breathing as you take in breaths through your nose into your belly. And as you exhale, breathe relaxation into your entire body as you reintegrate the reality of your body with the reality of the universe for from him and through him and for him are all things. In him you live and move and have your being. Focus on feeling this reality into your entire body right now, in this moment, feeling your body relax in this truth, soften, rest, feeling rest, feeling calm, replace stress and anxiety breathing in through your belly, breathing out relaxation into your entire body. As you focus your mind on feeling your body, feel this imagination for from him and through him and for him are all things. Every cell in your body, from him and through him and for him. In him, you live and move and have your being. Breathing in, feeling calm and relaxed, breathing out, letting go of any areas of tension as you feel your clenched muscles dropping a little more, reintegrating every part of your body with God, the reality of God, the reality that every cell in your body, everything about you is from him and through him and for him and in him, you live and move and have your being. Let's take some time to focus your mind on specific parts of your body. We take time to do this kind of body meditation to reintegrate your body with the reality of God's universe, the reality of God's presence, the reality of God's glory, the reality of these biblical truths we meditate on and imagine and feel God's word into your body to reintegrate your body with spiritual reality. So let's begin by bringing your mind's awareness to your gut, your abdomen, your belly, feeling the muscles in your belly release soften. You hold a lot of tension often in your gut. As you exhale, release that tension, focus your mind on releasing that tension in your gut, your abdomen, your diaphragm, your chest, the entire front of your torso, your pelvic area, releasing tension and focusing on the reality for from him and through him and for him are all things. Everything in your body is from him and through him and for him. In him, you live and move and have your being. Now bringing your awareness to your back and feel this reality in your back, all throughout your back, letting the comfort that God is the one who gives life to your body. Every cell in your body is from him and through him and for him. Meditate on letting that reality soften the tension all throughout your back right now, every muscle, calm, relax. Now bring your awareness to your shoulders. Focus on your letting go of the tension in your shoulders, letting your muscles soften, releasing stress and tension, letting your muscles and your shoulders drop to the ground now moving down your arms into your hands, fingers and thumbs, for from him and through him and for him are all things. Every part of your body is from him. Every cell in your body has given life through him. Every part of you exists for him. In him you live and move and have your being. Now focus on your neck, your throat, your tongue, letting your tongue, the muscle of your tongue relax all the way down, deep into your throat lying there. And let your release of the tongue bring relaxation into your entire throat and your jaw, moving into your jaw and your cheeks, your whole face dropping. You don't have to live for yourself, you don't have to justify your life, you don't have to prove your worth. Everything about you is from him and through him and for him and you can rest right now in that reality, that truth. Letting your face drop, now focus on your eyes, the muscles around your eyes and behind your eyes releasing tension, your forehead, your scalp, the back of your head. Notice any tension in the back of your head, just release it, let it go. Now think of your entire torso, your chest, your belly, your gut, your back, your shoulders, your pelvic area, your buttocks, your arms, your hands, your neck, your head. Let them lie there falling to the ground, releasing effort, letting go of effort, letting go like water flowing downstream. You exist for God, from him through him and for him. In him, you live and move and have your being. Rest in that truth. Now focus on your legs, your thighs, your knees, your calves. Let your legs relax like lymph noodles. You don't have to go anywhere or do anything. Right now you're recalibrating, reintegrating your body with God's spirit, with spiritual reality that is also physical reality. Every cell in your body is from him and through him and for him. In him, you live and move and have your being. Feel this in your ankles, your feet, toes. Christian meditation uses this kind of biblically guided imagination to experience your utter dependence on God's life giving spirit all the way to the cellular level. You are utterly dependent upon God's spirit, every cell in your body, given life by God's spirit, all things from him through him and for him, or from him through him and for him is every cell in your body, every bone in your body, every muscle, every nerve, every neuro pathway and synapses in your brain, everything about your soul from him and through him and for him. Use your imagination to feel God's life giving spirit all throughout your entire body. Use your imagination to see reality. God's life giving spirit throughout your entire body is mysterious, but it's also real. Imagine the spirit that gives life flowing through your veins throughout your whole body. This is the language of the Bible. Every cell in your body is given life from him through him and for him. This is reality. This is the realest reality in your life right now in this moment and you can see this reality by using your biblically guided imagination and focusing that imagination into your body. Your imagination is powerful enough to affect your body. This is part of the power of your soul body connection. As evidence of this, of how your imagination affects your bodily processes, it's actually possible to heat your hands just using your imagination. I've done it when somebody was training me how to do this kind of meditation, you can actually imagine heat into your hands. As I was holding a stress thermometer, as I imagine my hands heating up, the temperature rose. This is the power of imagination in your body. The mind body connection is powerful. Here's the thing, your beliefs and feelings and thoughts throughout your day are affecting your body in that kind of way. Your imagination is putting reality into your body, it's affecting your body's chemicals, physical reactions, muscle tension, stresses, heart rate, blood pressure. This is how the body works. So when you disconnect your mindset from the reality of God's word, perhaps you're putting unbelief into your body, worry, fear, insecurities, threats, your anger fantasies, your misinterpreted narratives of your relationships with people that's tensing your muscles, that's bringing defense, fight or flight into your body, tensing your eyes, tensing the muscles in your head, tensing your gut, tensing your shoulders, your neck. You're imagining reality into your body and creating reality into your body because of it. But the opposite can be true too. You can put the truth of the forever God being, your God forever in Christ into your body throughout the day as well. You can put the truth that from him and through him and for him are all things in your body, all things in your life, in him, you live and move and have your being. Use your imagination to feel that truth throughout your entire body and with each breath out, use your imagination to feel God's presence inside you, giving life to every cell in your body with your imagination on God's presence in your body. You're feeling a kind of transcendent sense of quiet, peace, calm, a sense of wonder that the God who created the universe is residing inside your body, giving life to your body. And because of Christ being in you by his Holy Spirit, you are one with the God that created the universe right now in this present moment for from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever. You live for God's glory. And when you do, you glory in God's glory, his glory becomes your glory forever. We see this in our sports teams. When our sports teams win, we actually feel their glory become our glory. We raise our hands, we high five our friends, we rejoice in the glory of our sports team because we identify with that team. We won, we scored, we are the champions. This is how it is with God's glory. His glory becomes our identity. His glory becomes our glory when we understand that we are in him and he is in us. But when we focus on our own glory, that's a dead end glory. Our lives get even smaller and less glorious because most people can see through it and we look ridiculous. We get defensive, we get self protective, people can tell that we're concerned about our glory, our recognition. When our own glory feels threatened, this is the voice of the false self, a false glory. This is often what brings anxiety, anger fantasies, self- protection, fight or flight tension, stress, elevated heart rate and blood pressure and all the body chemicals that can add to pain. We're forgetting the glory of being all things from him through him and for him. To him be the glory forever, the glory of the forever God being our God forever, the glory you glory in knowing the forever glorious God is your God forever. Every cell in your body, from him, through him, for him, to him be the glory forever. Living for God's glory instead of your own glory puts peace and joy and wellbeing into your body just like when my imagination could make my hands heat up. Imagining this reality puts peace and joy and wellbeing, love, calm into your body. Your body was created for God's glory, not to try to strive for your own. When you strive for your own glory, that's what puts tension and stress and anxiety, certain kinds of chronic pain even into your body because your body can't live incongruently with the reality of the universe. And the reality of the universe is that from him and through him and for him are all things, to him be the glory forever. So let's come back to your breathing, the rhythm of your breathing and feeling your body from within and using your biblically guided imagination to feel the reality of God's presence, God's spirit, God's glory giving life and joy and calm and peace into your whole body from within. Imagine this in your body right now, all throughout your body, every cell from him through him and for him. To him be the glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:36 (NIV)

For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

“For from him and through him and for him are all things.” We recalibrate our lives and our body with reality when we reintegrate how we see ourselves with the truth of this verse.

Let’s use our imagination to feel the truth of this verse into our entire body and our soul.

“For from him and through him and for him are all things.” And Acts 17:28 says, “In him we live and move and have our being.”

Christian meditation uses biblically guided imagination to experience your utter dependence upon God’s life-giving Spirit even at the cellular level.

“For from him and through him and for him are all things.”

Use your imagination to feel God’s Life-Giving Spirit in your body. This is mysterious, but it’s also real. Imagine the Spirit that gives Life flowing through your veins throughout your whole body. This is the language of the Bible.

Every cell in your body is given life from him, through him, and for him. This is reality. This is the realist reality in your life right now in this moment. And you can see this reality by using your biblically guided imagination.

Your imagination is powerful enough to greatly affect your body. This is part of the power of our soul - body connection.

As further evidence that your imagination affects bodily processes, it’s actually possible to heat your hands—just using your imagination. I’ve actually done it! (You’d need a stress thermometer.)

In the same way your beliefs and feelings and thoughts throughout your day are affecting your body.

Perhaps putting unbelief into your body. Worry. Fear. Insecurities. Threats. Your anger fantasies. Your misinterpreted narratives of your relationships with people.

But the opposite can be true too. You can put the truth of the forever God being your God forever into your body throughout the day as well.

“For from him and through him and for him are all things.”

“In him we live and move and have our being.”

Use your imagination to feel that truth throughout your entire body. And with each breath out use your imagination to feel God‘s presence inside you giving life to every cell in your body.

With your imagination on God‘s presence and in your body, you’re feeling a kind of transcendent sense of quiet. You’re feeling a sense of wonder at the God Who created the universe residing inside your body. Giving life to your body. And because Christ is in you you are one with God right now in this present moment.

Romans 11:36 (NIV)

For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

You live for God’s glory. And when you do, you glory in God’s glory. His glory becomes your glory forever.

Like when we fee the “glory” of our sports teams.

But when we focus on our own glory, that’s a dead-end kind of glory. Our lives get smaller. Less glorious. Because most people can see through it and we look ridiculous. When our own glory feels threatened — this is the voice of the false self. A false glory. This is often what brings anxiety. Anger fantasies. Self protection.
